  • Equivalent Elliptical Area Width
    • EEAW is the width of an ellipse equal in area to the original shape, and having an aspect ratio the same as that of the bounding rectangle.
  • Equivalent Elliptical Area Length
    • EEAL is the length of an ellipse equal in area to the original shape, and having an aspect ratio the same as that of the bounding rectangle.
  • Bounding Ellipse Width
    • BEW is the width of a minimal-area ellipse that bounds the particle shape.
  • Bounding Ellipse Length
    • BEL is the length of a minimal-area ellipse that bounds the particle shape.
  • Ellipse Aspect Ratio
    • EAR is the ratio of EEAL to EEAW and is the same as the bounding rectangle aspect ratio.
  • Ellipsicity
    • Ellipsicity = (actual shape area) / (bounding ellipse area). This is a measure of how closely the shape conforms to an ellipse.
