Applications:
Crystals, flakes, abrasives, silica, paint pigments, graphite and other lubricants; in general particles having more or less straight sides or facets and well-defined corners.
Available measures:
- Polygon Order
- Polygon Order is the number of sides of the fitted polygon.
- Interior Angles
- Interior Angles are the interior angles of the fitted polygon. Since this is not a single-valued measure, it is reported in the form of a histogram on the angle axis (0 to 180 degrees).
- Convexity
- Convexity is a fractional number between 0 and 1 that represents how closely the computed polygon matches the actual shape. It is computed as the ratio of actual shape pixel area to the area of the polygonal convex hull.
The Polygon model computes only shape data. Size information would come from one or more of the size measures, such as Bounding Ellipse width and length. Particles must be larger than 200 pixels in area for the Polygon measures to be computed.
